Washi Tape

Washi tape is a useful tool for organizing household items. I was first made aware of this fact by I Heart Organizing, a site that has taught me a lot.

So far I’ve used it to:

  1. Label my external drive cords on my computer so I can easily identify which of my look alike drives are Washi-tapeplugged in. FYI, choose light colored tape if you plan to write on it. Dark colored Sharpie markers show up well on the Washi tape.
  2. I’ve labeled the DYI contents of plain squirt bottles. This is actually a safety precaution. Bug spray wouldn’t be so good sprayed on the bathroom sink. I’ve mixed up so many concoctions in spray bottles, I’d be totally confused if I didn’t label them. BTW, my most used concoction is in a (marked) spray bottle which hangs on the rod in my laundry room. I call it Wrinkle Out. When an article of clothing comes out of the dryer looking less than attractive, I simply put it on a hanger and spray this wonder-working Wrinkle Out on it and let it hang in the humid laundry room until the wrinkles relax. (Wish I could do something similar with my face!) How wet I make it depends on how wrinkled it is. This works well on shirt plackets. Spray till wet and then smooth with your fingers. Allow to dry. Please don’t ask me for a precise recipe. I just fill the spray bottle with water and add a TBL of vodka and enough drops of an essential oil to make it smell good. I use lavender oil because it’s calming, refreshing and not obnoxious on a man. The vodka is a fixative, as is grain alcohol. I’ve made it with just water and essential oil, but it seems better with a fixative.
  3. I’ve labeled my projector with a number I need to remember when attaching it to my laptop.
  4. I’ve labeled glass roller bottles and little glass spray bottles containing essential oil mixtures. When my friend, April, didn’t have a dark glass roller bottle for essential oil, she covered the outside of a clear glass roller bottle with Washi tape to not only label but to protect the contents from light.
